Spatial Bending walks through four stages of structural development:
- Bending Plate — extreme equilibrium of a cantilevering structure under single or multiple loads.
- Controlled-Bending Frame — chains as controllable weight, strings as controllable counterweight, modulating the curvature of wooden strips.
- Curved Façade & Roof — a house structure where bending strings carry the load as both roof and decorative façade; the second floor hangs from the roof.
- Reinforced Hanging Structure — added trusses and columns improve stability, while coffering patterns are introduced into the floor plate.
